Supporting South American Customers with Locally-Sourced Processed Metals and Precision Manufactured Brake Shims

MSC’s joint venture with Tekno Steel in Sao Paulo, Brazil gives customers in South America’s appliance, automotive, metal buildings and packaging industries a local source of coated steel coil and precision-stamped brake shims.

With the ability to produce up to 13,000 tons of processed coil per month on two modern lines, MSC/Tekno supports customers with polyester, silicon-polyester, polyurethane, vinyl, epoxy, PVDF Kynar and polyamide coatings; PVC, polyester, PVF and reflective films; silicon and acrylic adhesives; and painted coil in widths from 500 mm to 1.3 meters, in thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 2 mm, and maximum weights of 10 tons.

Regional automotive customers depend on MSC/Tekno for coated coil used for fuel tanks and precision brake shims stamped from advanced materials including Quiet Steel® and a range of other advanced sound-deadening and performance-enhancing materials. The Sao Paulo stamping facility is currently being expanded to double its present capacity of 700,000 shims per month to a total of 1,400,000 to support the rapidly growing South American automotive industry.
